I’ve always been a “black” “very black” and “blackest” eye makeup purchaser, but this does make all the sense in the world. Perhaps I’ll give the brown&black a try…
BLACK AND BROWN
Looking for a hot new makeup trick? Use black and brown liners together for glamorous, old Hollywood results, advises Allure.com. The beauty site tapped makeup artist Brigitte Reiss-Andersen for tips on layering brown and black liner. Says Reiss-Andersen: “Black on black is too harsh, but black on brown is softer.” The best technique is to use black liner and mascara on the top lashes and then brown liner and mascara on the bottom lashes. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux agrees, “Black lifts the eyes on the top, but on the bottom, it can drag them down. By putting brown on the bottom you still look made up, but in a pleasant, sensual way.”
Taking a step outside my accessory comfort zone, cue Enfants Perdus, a handmade “gothic nouveau” jewelry line featuring precious gemstones, diamonds and black pearls set in sterling silver and 18 karat gold that retail from $280-$480, which is a slight investment for most 20somethings, but instead of focusing on being on trend, the pieces are handcrafted to be unique and eclectic.
Enfants Perdus recently launched the Riemann Collection, a selection of pendants, rings, earrings and bracelet inspired by a mathematician of the same name. Don’t worry, the pieces aren’t shaped like textbooks, calculators or pencil compasses; instead, they are hauntingly beautiful, a bit fantastical, mythical and remind me of old world architecture.
My jewelry style is pretty classic, and I take the opportunity to wear anything that sparkles whenever possible. Although the Riemann pieces were not my normal style, (those with an edgier look will be able to pull of the entire collection) I love the gemstone pendants pictured above. Although a bit daring and slightly more intense than most jewelry I own, I can absolutely see them fitting effortlessly into my wardrobe.
Just only the most perfect iPhone wallpaper in the whole world. Dazzling.
